Unsolicited submissions are currently closed.

Erewhon Books is considering new novels and novellas in any speculative fiction genre, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, and other subgenres, for adult or upper YA audiences. 

We will also consider select short fiction collections, translated works, and non-fiction & anthologies of interest to the community.

What We’re Looking For:

We prefer books with unique and well-formed prose, on the literary end of the spectrum but with clear commercial appeal. 

We especially like works that fall between genres—something that’s hard to categorize is more likely to win us over than a standard-issue epic/quest fantasy, and we appreciate veins of weirdness or dark humor. 

Erewhon Books does not discriminate. We are especially interested in publishing authors from underrepresented backgrounds, books with underrepresented characters and settings, and works of feminist, queer, and/or sociopolitical interest.

If You Don’t Have A Literary Agent:

Erewhon’s unagented submissions are currently closed to the general public. We will not read unsolicited submissions sent outside of open periods.

All unagented submissions should be complete and include the full text of the manuscript. Please only send us one project to evaluate per open call for submissions. 

Technical Guidelines:

We only accept digital submissions. 

Submissions should be sent to submissions@erewhonbooks.com; please format the subject line of the email as: “SUBMISSION: [Title] by [Author Name]. 

Include a brief list of notable prior publications and a one-page synopsis of the book (including word count) in the body of your email, and send your full manuscript as an attachment in a .doc or .docx file. 

Simultaneous submissions are great! As a courtesy, please inform us if you receive another offer.
